Encounter and Departure
The exciting journey begins early at 7:00 a.m., where all passengers must gather at the agency. From there, we will be transported by land to the starting point of our excursion, the Galápagos National Park control, where the majestic Sierra Negra Volcano is located.
Journey to Sierra Negra Volcano
Our journey will take us in a comfortable private taxi to Sierra Negra Volcano. This place has a rich history, having been inhabited by people in ancient times of Galápagos, specifically on the coast of Puerto Villamil and Santo Tomás de Berlanga, located 20 kilometers inland in the high parts of the island. Sierra Negra Volcano is known for hosting one of the largest craters in the world.
Exploration of Nature and Bird Watching
This excursion is an opportunity to connect deeply with nature, with a special focus on bird watching and the observation of unique flora. Our tour starts at the Galápagos National Park control, where a certified guide will provide us with a comprehensive briefing about the area, flora, and fauna that inhabit here. After this introduction, we will embark on a guided hike of approximately 45 minutes, during which we’ll have the chance to enjoy the natural surroundings and learn about its biodiversity.
Viewpoint of Sierra Negra Volcano
After the walk, we will reach the second viewpoint, which is the highlight of our visit. From here, we will witness the astonishing caldera of Sierra Negra Volcano. Inside this immense caldera, we can admire unique volcanic lava formations and fascinating vegetation that make this site a truly singular place to explore and appreciate.
Back to the port
After a day filled with discoveries and natural wonders, we will begin our journey back to the port. The return is scheduled for around 1:40 p.m., allowing us to fully enjoy this unique experience on Isabela Island in the Galápagos.
