Itinerary
All passengers need to arrive at the agency in the evening at 18h30 on the day of their tour, where we will outfit everyone with snorkeling gear, including a short wetsuit, fins, and a mask and snorkel.
At 19h00, we will head to the Muelle Acuario I and Zarpe, where you will meet your naturalist guide and we are embarking.
We will go along the entire coast towards the northwest of the island. Until we reach our point of visit, where we will do our session of snorkel in Darwin Bay, here passengers will receive a briefing and safety standards. They will also receive a water lamp., Passengers will have time to equip themselves, to later jump into the sea.
We will snorkel around the entire bay, observing the species that we can see around the site. All passengers have to follow the staff that will be in charge of the session that night. While snorkeling at night we can observe different types of fish, lobsters, prawns, reef sharks, sea lions, sea turtles, starfish, sea urchins, and the best of all that you will be able to observe in this excursion plankton, a set of organisms, mainly microscopic, that float in salty or fresh waters, more abundant up to 200 meters deep, approximately.
There will be a time where we turn off the flashlights to be able to observe the plankton, since it can only be seen when it is in absolute darkness. You will realize that, when you wave your hands, everything around you will shine with the bright light of these small microorganisms. You will also be fascinated to see how the sea lions passing near you shine by the movement they exert and activate the lights of the plankton that gives rise to observing a shooting star in the sea.
We will be snorkeling for about two hours, to later return to the boat and enjoy a hot drink and a small snack. We will return to the port at approximately 21h30, depending on the ocean conditions.
*This itinerary is subject to change at the discretion of the Galapagos National Park and your naturalist guide, depending on ocean conditions. We take safety seriously, and always strive to provide you with the best and safest experience.
*In light of the pandemic, we will be implementing stringent cleaning policies. Every piece of equipment will be thoroughly disinfected between uses, and the agency and boat will be wiped down daily. Hand sanitizer will be available at all times.
