Gordon Rocks is one of the best dive sites in the central islands. It is an eroded crater on top of a tuff cone. Near the coast of Santa Cruz Island, this destination offers two dive sites, located 45 minutes from the Itabaca Channel (on the north side of Santa Cruz Island).

What you are likely to see

Hammerhead sharks, Galapagos sharks, white tip sharks, mobula rays, turtles, reef fish, rays, eagle rays, Galapagos eels, barracudas, and a variety of invertebrates.

 

Itinerary

All passengers must arrive at the agency at 7h00, where we will prepare everyone with the diving equipment, which includes a long wetsuit, boots, fins, regulator, BCD vest, mask, snorkel, weights and two diving tanks.

At 8h30, we will go to the Pier, where you will meet your naturalist guide and board the boat.

Gordon Rocks is one of the best dive sites in the central islands. It is an eroded crater on top of a tuff cone. Near the coast of Santa Cruz Island, this destination offers two dive sites, located 45 minutes from the Itabaca Channel (on the north side of Santa Cruz Island). This rock formation is world renowned as a suitable site for advanced divers, due to its strong currents.

Navigation to Gordon Rocks. Once we arrive the place, the diving guide will proceed to give you the dive briefing. The diver guide will be able to suggest some other rock site dependingn the ocean conditions. Each dive lasts about 45 minutes, they also have a surface interval of about 1 hour between dives. In this place you will be able to appreciate different marine species such as galapagos shark, white and black tip sharks, hammerhead shark, turtles, manta rays, sunfish, dolphins, sea lions, starfish, sea urchins, and different types of fish, etc. In the same way, you will be able to observe birds around the rock such as blue-footed boobies, Nazca boobies, pelicans and frigates.

The return to the port is at approximately 15h30 , depending the ocean conditions.

* This itinerary is subject to change at the discretion of the Galapagos National Park and your naturalist guide, in certain cases, depending the ocean conditions. We take safety seriously and always strive to provide you with the best and safest experience.

* In light of the pandemic, we will implement strict cleaning policies. Each piece of equipment will be completely sanitized between uses, and the agency and the boat will be cleaned daily. Hand sanitizer will be available at all times.
